about

I've had a really fun few days recording all these tracks, and a really depressing few years writing them.

I hope they give you as much pleasure as they give my cat.

Track Name: You're Looking Rough
You're looking pretty rough and I'm not surprised
I can see the nights have taken their toll on your eyes
You've got a bottle in you hand
And your mates are stood round cheering, whos leering at you now?
You make them laugh, yeah tonight your on fire
And she looks on with sexual desire,
But who's gonna want you now as break of day is dawning?
You're all cringing in the morning
When your photos are tagged from last night
And you say "take that one off I look shite"
But you know you don't, you think that you look stunning
But I think your times running out
And you need to decide, exactly where your priorities lie
Cos you can't blame drugs and rock n roll forever

I can't help but remember
You used to be so
So pretty
Oh no, uh oh, oh no

Saturday night out on the scene
And you're all dressed just like Agnus Dean
With hair to match you think you look so different
As your waiting in her kitchen
Someone phones a cab,
You go outside to have a fag
But you just fake tanned your legs and now it's pouring

So your standing in the door
Have a few, start the night off right
Taxis just pulled, up outside
So you all pile in, drive into the city
Oh darling its a pity

You used to be so
so pretty
oh no, uh oh, oh no.

Dont you find it somewhat strange
How people part and people change?

You used to be so
So Pretty
Oh no, uh oh, oh no.

You're looking pretty rough
and I'm not surprised
I can see the nights have taken their tole on your eyes

You've got a bottle in your hand
You're mates are stood round cheering
Who's leering at you now?
Track Name: The Hangman
I nearly cracked a smile as I looked over my aviators
Said something I thought you'd hate and walk away and see you later
And case in hand and think I'm cool and act like I'm not thinking
About every single step I take, so I look good if youre still watching.
Perfectly the brightness bites me and pins my pupils stretches tightly
It seems so wrong and yet so right, this bitterness is so unsightly.

I hope you were still watching as I played my final scene
As the curtain fell and the hangman kicked the stool beneath my feet.

And when you're higher than the white and any film maker would die
to see the site I've set before me, various images of glory.
Ive got the documentary covered and the soundtrack compliments each scene
Like Tarantino I spent hours working out what each bit means.
And inspiration catches you and whips you as it leaves,
With one last breath you reach, its gone, you grab at words youll never see.

I hope you were still watching as I played my final scene
As the curtain fell and the hangman kicked the stool beneath my feet.

So she stares out the window, and with Eva Perons smile,
In her most dramatic voice she says "You wont see me for a while"
And maybe then it should've rained or at least a thunder clap
But it was warm and it was still and it shouldve ended with a bang.
But out she got, home she trot and hoping from the back she's hot
She did not stick to the script, she knew there's something she forgot.
The scene played better in her head, she didn't say what she shouldve said,
And dirty looks and rude remarks left both parties in the dark.

I hope you were still watching as I played my final scene
As the curtain fell and the hangman kicked the stool beneath my feet.
Track Name: If There's Anything More Soul Destroying Than Working In Telesales I Don't Want To Know About It
We work in telesales, and I.T, in admin and libraries
We sell sweets and work in cafes, we're shop assistants and police ladies
We're part time photographers and artists, and poets, and djs, and writers and musicians,
We're in bands, we're fans with fisted hands, and smile through the ugly truth we're screwed because we don't know just what's coming, where we're going.

And I live for the weekend, for that moment, that feeling, that seeing and believing
I live for the weekend, do you want to lose yourself with me.

None of us are even sure where we will be in a year or more
Except for one or two, with their head screwed on their shoulders
And we'll just laugh along pretend we're not getting older
I just realised, I'm not sure why, or where, you and me fit out there
And you hate your job because it's not what's in your heart
Don't you hate it at 8 when we part?
I spend my time, waiting for 5, to shine, to ride to your house on my bike.
Don't you love that I'm 22 and that's how I get to you, the sun was shining all the way,
And I dreamt I was in LA.

I live for the weekend, for that moment, that feeling, that seeing and believing
I live for the weekend, do you want to lose yourself with me.

We work in telesales, and I.T, in admin and libraries
We sell sweets and work in cafes, we're shop assistants and police ladies
We're part time photographers and artists, and poets, and djs, and writers and musicians,
We're in bands, we're fans with fisted hands, we smile through the ugly truth we're screwed because we don't know just what's coming where we're going.

I live for the weekend, for that moment, that feeling, that seeing and believing
I live for the weekend, do you want to lose yourself with me.

I will give you my best, and you can choose to take or leave the rest.
Track Name: Gorgeous
I've seen you five times now or maybe more,
I started writing this when it was four,
I didn't know, I wouldnt even guess,
She said that's who you were, thats who she is
Would you talk to me, did you see
But I guess you didnt notice me
You probably didnt know I was there
But I was only 14 so what would you care

What can I do when your gorgeous
And I cant stop looking at you
Till you said
"Are you alright babe?"
I said, "Yeah are you?"

The second time I do recall
You were a friend of a friend that was all
You tried to make me come out, make me dance
But not that night no not a chance
You bought me a bottle a wine
For my 18th birthday night
You said "Here you are, there you go
I aint got you a card just so you know"

What can I do when your gorgeous
And I cant stop looking at you
Till you said
"Are you alright babe?"
I said, "Yeah are you?"

The third time, some kinda do
At this womans house, I was waiting for you
I new you were her bestest friend
I thought you're bound to come in the end
I got too drunk went to the loo
Just so happens that so did you
Talking to you about this and that
You didn't know we went years back
You just keep cropping up
Once in Boots, once at the pub,
We met at a wedding, met at work,
A Christmas party then a 21st.

What can I do when your gorgeous
And I cant stop looking at you
Till you said
"Are you alright babe?"
I said, "Yeah are you?"
Track Name: The Chicken Shop Blues
I staggered through the kitchen through red ribbons went outside
He said "dont go empty handed hen" I died a bit inside
The rain went in my shoes and I filled them up with paper
I tried to phone you, you hung up, said "we'll take about it later"

A song I hate's on the radio when I go back inside
I just pretend I'm in a film about the worst day of my life
And on the way to work I tend to look out the window
And often I pretend I'm in my latest video

I can see I am trying too hard to be somebody else
Judy said "you can only be a first rate version of yourself"

No I won't stop, no not now
Offer me an easy way out
I'll take it, maybe I'll make it on my own
But I'll contemplate it
I hope that I'll never hurt you, I promise I won't desert you

But I can't spend my days working all week on minimum wage

I swear last week the devil came and sat right next to me
The darkness in his eyes nearly swept me off my seat
Pray I'm never so hollow as those loveless lives
Counting every hour down to death on central drive

Sometimes I wonder in this God forsaken town
Am I the only one with a heart that still pounds
And every time I ask "Any sauce with that?" I die
A little more each time, and if I could I'd cry

I can see I am trying too hard to be somebody else
Judy said "you can only be a first rate version of yourself"

No I won't stop, no not now
Offer me an easy way out
I'll take it, maybe I'll make it on my own
But I'll contemplate it
I hope that I'll never hurt you, I promise I won't desert you

But I can't spend my days working all week on minimum wage

And it's getting me down, down, down
I wish I was on top, top, Oh God

Stop, no not now
Offer me an easy way out
I'll take it, I'll make it on my own
I'll contemplate it
I hope that I'll never hurt you, I promise I won't desert you

But I can't spend my days working all week on minimum wage.
Track Name: Skin And Bone
I, when I asked about your mind and the things you'd left behind
I thought I told you slowly
You didn't know quite what to do
Didn't have a word to say
But I guessed that anyway.

When you look into her eyes you'll turn to skin and bone
Her heart is gone

Because a heart's too heavy when it's made of stone
So she keeps it on her sleeve and carries it around
In case she ever needs a visual prop for a tale of all the men who've done her wrong

When you put me on the bench, gave me time to repent
I prayed it to be over
I walked a mile down to the sea
You said "Oh gracious me, are we just growing older?"

When you look into her eyes you turn to skin and bone
Her heart is gone

Because a heart's too heavy when it's made of stone
So she keeps it on her sleeve and carries it around
In case she ever needs a visual prop for a tale of all the men who've done her wrong

She likes whisky and cigarettes
And I like rum and thunder cats
She likes Sundays in the park
And I like driving after dark
I'm not into dancing
And she don't do romancing
I tried to do my moves but I think I failed
Tried to keep up with the crowd but it turned me pale, oh no

When you look into her eyes you turn to skin and bone
Her heart is gone

Because a heart's too heavy when it's made of stone
So she keeps it on her sleeve and carries it around
In case she ever needs a visual prop for a tale of all the men who've done her wrong.
Track Name: Proper Sexy Fit
You must know I proper want you but its not that easy sometimes
You're better at this stuff than me, you know it should be easy in your mind
But that's just me that's how it is
It's not that hard to see
You probably think I might be interesting
But there's not much more to me
I tried my best to meet you
But everything went wrong
Like in some stupid farce type film
Or Victoria wood song
I bought food I didnt want just to go outside
To be near where you might be, I thought I had some pride
But I met you, and you don't seem to care for stuff like that
Like mind games and what have you
You know what you want and that's that
I proper know it to you know
You're proper sexy fit
I fancy you a lot like, I think you might like me a bit.

But I'm losing time, I lost my mind
My friends and family
I'm losing faith in you, I think I'm losing faith in me
Just stop and try to think who you would like to be
Just stop and try to think, does it involve me?

You must know I proper want you
Send me weak at the knees
But you've got to understand me
Understand me please
I work in the morning
And yeah I know its boring
Im up at 5 but thats just life at least til summer ends
Then it depends if they'll have me back to do the HND
Then I'll be round most every night
Or every night if that's alright.

But I'm losing time, I lost my mind
My friends and family
I'm losing faith in you, I think I'm losing faith in me
Just stop and try to think who you would like to be
Just stop and try to think, does it involve me?

I don't know what I do, oh it seems to make you mad
I don't know what I say, how can I be that bad?
But all you do is seem to moan and groan, oh quite a lot
And ask me this and ask me that and put me on the spot
Like where I'm going, where I've been
And who I'm seeing, who I've seen
And what I do and what I dont
What I will and what I wont
If you would just shut your mouth, open your eyes
Open your ears and you would realise
That everything I say and everything I do
Is only because, of you.

But I'm losing time, I lost my mind
My friends and family
I'm losing faith in you, I think I'm losing faith in me
Just stop and try to think who you would like to be
Just stop and try to think, does it involve me?
Track Name: Horrorshow
If you're deep in snow I'll dig a hole, and I'll join you there cos I'd rather not know
Up and down, you make me frown, dragging me to the droogs of town.

And I said "that's sick, next time that's it" they make me think all this is shit
Because I dont know, and I just cant see, how all of this relates to me

I've told you all there is to know; ugly, bad and horrorshow
The more you tell me, more you laugh, and the more I wish I'd never asked.

Boys and girls, and in between, youre pretty face hides the obscene,
You have your teas, GCSEs, you hide you Es and A to Zs.
Your little book is black and blue from all the things you didnt do
Left them red or nearly dead with all the things you should have said

I've told you all there is to know; ugly, bad and horrorshow
The more you tell me, more you laugh, and the more I wish I'd never asked.

School kids scare me, make me nervous, training to be nursery nurses
But what scares you don't worry me, which makes us fit so magically.
I couldn't hold you any closer if your head was stapled to my shoulders
And I squeezed your ribs until they cracked under the strain of all the love I have.

I've told you all there is to know, ugly, bad and horrorshow
The more you tell me, more you laugh, and the more I wish I'd never asked.
